JPG to PNG Converter: Add Transparency
Stay up to date with all the tools.
Differences between JPG and PNG:
JPG uses lossy compression optimized for photographs, resulting in smaller files but without transparency support. PNG uses lossless compression, supports full transparency (alpha channel), and is ideal for graphics, logos, and images that require perfect quality. Converting JPG to PNG does not restore quality lost in the original compression, but allows you to add transparency later and preserves quality in future edits.
When to convert JPG to PNG:
Preparing images for background and transparency removal
Graphic editing that requires quality preservation
Overlaying images in layered designs
Platform requirements that only accept PNG
Avoiding further degradation in multiple edits
The conversion is instant and without additional loss. Note that resulting PNG files will be larger than the original JPGs due to lossless compression. For web, continue using JPG for large photographs; use PNG only when transparency or future lossless editing is necessary. The tool processes batch conversions for efficiency.
